Nuclear engineering specialist North West Projects to operate under Actemium brand
Effective 3rd November, Lancashire, Cumbria and Hampshire based North West Projects will rebrand to Actemium Design UK, joining the broad network of other VINCI Energies UK & RoI businesses operating under the same name.
Following the acquisition of North West Projects by VINCI Energies UK & RoI in 2017, the rebrand to Actemium symbolises the multi-discipline engineering, design and project management consultancy business unit’s full assimilation into the company.
Actemium is the VINCI Energies brand dedicated to industrial processes and consists of a network of 400 business units in 41 countries, delivering design, engineering, installation and commissioning of electrical, mechanical and IT services for clients’ premises and sites.
North West Projects began life in 1987 as a small team of Control, Electrical and Instrumentation (CE&I) professionals, which has since grown to more than 150 multi-discipline engineers with skills encompassing design and project management. From its sites in Chorley (Lancashire), Whitehaven (Cumbria) and Basingstoke (Hampshire), North West Projects covers the full project life cycle, from initial front-end concept design, detailed design for manufacture and support to manufacturing, testing, installation and commissioning.
The team’s primary focus has been on the provision of mechanical and CE&I engineering design services for nuclear decommissioning, including Sellafield and many of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s (NDA) other challenging projects. In recent years, the team has diversified into the defence and nuclear new build markets, working on projects of national strategic importance.
From the 3rd of November, North West Projects will operate under the name ‘Actemium Design UK’ through its three offices: Actemium Design Chorley, Actemium Design Whitehaven and Actemium Design Basingstoke.
“Joining the network of Actemium business units gives us access to a wealth of global knowledge and experience that we can use to add value to our existing clients and capture new opportunities. We are excited about what this new chapter will bring in our growth story from a small CE&I team to a comprehensive solutions provider in the nuclear and defence space,” says Aidan McManus, Sector Manager at North West Projects.
Andrew Hunter, Director at Actemium UK adds: “The UK nuclear market holds huge potential for us as a business as the country urgently needs investment in energy infrastructure to replace old generation sources and meet targets for affordable, large-scale low-carbon energy. It is a huge asset for us to have North West Projects join the Actemium brand and we are looking forward to close collaboration and mutual growth between our business units.”
